Welcome to aiPTO: AI Parenting Tips and Tech Resource for Modern Families
Your Guide to Parenting in the Age of AI and Tech. Cut Through The Hype and Fear-mongering With Our Practical and Balanced Approach.
Ever caught your kid chatting with Siri or asking Alexa for answers? You’re not alone.
Hey there! I'm Dhani, a mom of two girls (including a neurodivergent toddler), a tech professional, a policy wonk, and, just like you, someone trying to figure out how to raise kids in this fas-changing AI landscape.
Why I Started aiPTO
Last month, while planning our summer vacation, I asked Gemini (Google’s AI) on my phone for family-friendly ideas. My 6-year-old, newly literate and ever curious, peeked over and asked, “Who is Gemini?”
“It’s an AI,” I replied casually. She tilted her head and asked, “What’s AI?”
That moment made me pause. As someone who works with AI tools professionally, I wasn’t ready to answer this simple question at home.
Sound familiar?
The Parenting-AI Gap: What the Data Shows
AI exists everywhere around our kids. It’s in the games they play, the YouTube videos they love, even the homework helpers they trust. But many parents feel unprepared.
70% of US teenagers have used generative AI at least once and 22% have share information online that they later found was false (Common Sense Media, 2025)
Only 16% of parents feel they have a detailed understanding of AI (The National Parents Union, 2023)
Most concerning: Students rate AI's accuracy highly, with an average score of 7.2 out of 10 for schoolwork (2024 internal user survey by Caktus AI)
This knowledge gap isn't your fault. AI is evolving faster than most parents can keep up. Plus, most resources focus on workplaces or classrooms, not homes.
